Blog Assignment Monday April 2

For monday examine the main series of shots in the video that you worked with for your last blog assignment and discuss the way that movement functions to tell a story and to reveal or highlight aspects of the film images.

Blog assignment for Friday March 30

Pick a movie trailer (30 seconds or longer) and record the different shots that happen for thirty throughout the duration of the trailer.  You may use any movie traile that you like so long as it is appropriate for class.  If your movie trailer is longer than 30 seconds use any thirty seconds of the film that you like.

Here is an example.  I advise that you watch the video and examine how I recorded each shot.

Close up- the two girls talking
Close up- One girl closes the other girls hand around the item of jewelry
Close up- the girls talk
Fade to black
Mid range- camera follows one of the girls running
Close up- girl runs toward camera we see her face
Mid range- group of coal miners walks towards camera
Mid range- Running girl goes under fence
Close up-  Girl draws a bow- we just see the bow being drawn and then it draws back to her face
Mid range shot- we see what she sees down the bow (a deer)
Mid range- Cut to girl laughing with guy
Close up- guy smiling camera moves to show girl smiling
Fade to black
Mid range- Different guy throws bread
Mid range- Camera shows where bread was thrown
Close up- Girl sitting by tree
Close up- Boy who threw bread
Fade to black
Long range- soldiers walk toward camera
Mid range- Mother helps boy get dressed
Close up- two kids peaking through underside of house
